Cadillac Plastic Ltd Featured Product: Autotex® XE (Extreme Environment)

Why choose Cadillac Plastic?

Cadillac Plastic has recently been appointed the exclusive converters and distributors of MacDermid Autotype products in the UK and Ireland. Cadillac Plastic has over four decades of experience in the plastic industry making us an authority in the field. We convert custom size sheets and rolls at no additional cost and have a growing number of loyal, satisfied customers.

Why choose Autotex® XE?

Autotex XE (Extreme Environment) is a hardcoated Polyester that is formulated for use in extreme environments and has been specifically designed for use in outdoor applications.  Autotex XE is a textured polyester film with specially constructed hardcoat and primer layers that are formulated to resist ultraviolet light, moisture and wide variations in temperature which can deteriorate the Polyester over time.  Autotex XE products have been the market leader for over 20 years for outdoor applications.  Product performance is routinely monitored with real time ageing in Florida and simulated ageing and accelerated UV ageing.

Standard plastic films will become brittle and yellow after exposure to UV light however, Autotex XE demonstrates significant improvement compared to standard hardcoated polyester after accelerated UV Ageing Tests.

PRODUCT APPLICATIONS:

Autotex® XE is recommended for the following applications - Membrane switch overlays, Fascia panels, Signage, Nameplates, Labels/Product marking, all of which can be used outdoors.

Simon Jones, General Manager at Cadillac Plastic, told an interesting story the other day.  He and his wife were given a microwave as an engagement gift way back in 1986.  This particular model had a ‘state of the art’ LED display and membrane switch panel!

For the past 36 years the microwave has been used daily, from warming up baby food for little ones, until today, where it is used to cook porridge for breakfast every morning.

Some parts are looking aged and a little bit worn, but the white membrane switch panel is still pristine, just as it was when it was pulled out of the box decades ago.

This got us thinking: Does anyone know of a membrane switch panel that is older, in daily use and still as good as new?  Who can claim the oldest switch panel?

Let us know, we look forward to hearing from you!

Cadillac Plastic has been featured in the specialist magazine - Inside Industry (Dec21/Jan22 issue). Inside Industry is recognised as one of the leading global business to business publications and Cadillac Plastic is proud to be featured in it's latest publication. We would like to thank Inside Industry for the well presented double page spread. Our thanks also go to Sabic and TC Transcontinental for their continued support.

Cadillac Plastic is celebrating its formation 40 years ago and Alistair Kennedy, Managing Director, joining the Company.

The team at Cadillac Plastic would like to thank its valued customers for their support over the years and we look forward to continuing those relationships as a key supplier.  We are proud of the fact that we are still supplying customers who were with us 40 years ago.

Despite starting the business during difficult economic conditions in 1981, the company soon enjoyed success supplying LEXAN Polycarbonate for innovative projects such as the ZX81 home computer which revolutionised new technology within the domestic environment.

Cadillac Plastic is now a leader within the industry representing suppliers such as Sabic, Du Pont, 3M, and Transcontinental Advanced Coatings, adding value to these materials by providing conversion, delivery and technical support services which are second to none.

Over the past year Cadillac Plastic has been a supplier of materials for PPE and medical equipment supporting the NHS and front-line workers.

Key workers in hospitals, care services and public facing roles are now spending a large proportion of their working day wearing PPE, including protective face visors.

Choosing the right PPE, which can be worn all day and allows key workers to perform essential tasks, is now a priority rather than ‘making do’ with whatever is available.   The focus is on higher specification face visors which are durable and can be re-used, saving costs overall and reducing environmental impact.

Cadillac Plastic can advise on the right grades of Polycarbonate and Polyester for visors, including anti-fog and anti-scratch coatings, which are all available from stock.

Typical recommendations include:-

Melinex FS1 – Anti-fog Polyester film

Lexan Martec HP92WP scratch resistant Polycarbonate film
