On Saturday 20th July 2024, Cadillac Plastic attended the Classic Nostalgia event at the world famous Hill Climb race event at Shelsley Walsh. 

Shelsley’s Classic Nostalgia weekend is a highlight in the UK’s motorsport calendar with the very best racing cars, vintage specials, garden party atmosphere and track action with Rally cars and cars from all eras. A relaxed meeting with lots going on away from the track too.

Simon Jones - Our General Manager - about the day:

“Our customer event at Classic Nostalgia this year did not disappoint.  We were joined by Grahame and Scott from CSI Equipment, along with Chris and Phil from Model Tech Design.

This year featured a wide selection of Group A, Group B and WRC rally cars, with Stig Blomqvist driving one of his original Audi Quattro’s.  Chris and Phil are big rally car fans, with Chris restoring a Vauxhall Chevette rally car.  They have also been involved in engineering projects for rally and F1 teams local to Bicester.

Grahame and Scott were real car enthusiasts.  It was their first visit to a Hillclimb event and they enjoyed the wide selection of vehicles being used as intended, rather than sitting in a museum.  Grahame spotted the sticker on a vintage car “Save the Planet – buy a car that lasts 100 years”.  So true in our disposable society!

We all made the (considerable) 1,000 yard climb to the finish line to see cars complete their runs, with stops along the way at good vantage points.

All in all, another great day in the company of valued customers and car enthusiasts.”

Featured Product: 3M™ 200MP High Performance Acrylic Adhesive

3M™ High Performance Acrylic Adhesive 200MP is a popular choice for graphic attachment and general industrial joining applications.  It provides outstanding adhesion to metal and high surface energy plastics.  This adhesive provides some initial repositionability for placement accuracy when bonding to plastics, making it easy to use.  It also performs well after exposure to humidity and hot/cold cycles.

· Up to 204⁰F short-term heat resistance

· Excellent shear strength to resist slippage and edge lifting

3M™ High Performance Acrylic Adhesive 200MP adhesive is the base adhesive for a range of roll and sheet products with different adhesive and liner thickness.  Thicker liners being more suitable for die-cutting and kiss cutting applications. 

Typical applications for this adhesive type:

· Long term bonding of graphic nameplates and overlays (“subsurface” printed polycarbonate or polyester) to metal and high surface energy plastics.  These are used for aerospace, medical and industrial equipment, automotive, appliance and electronics markets.

· Bonding graphic overlays for membrane switches and for bonding the complete switch to the equipment surface.

· The adhesives bonding characteristics enable high speed processing of parts in the medical, telecommunications and electronics markets (medical components, durable labels, and flexible circuits).

· Bonding in lamination processes to industrial foams for rotary die-cutting of small gaskets for industrial and electronics markets.

Featured Product: Cadco Release Liner

At Cadillac Plastic we sell a range of products that are useful in manufacturing or printing processes, such as release liner.

Why Cadco Release Liner?

CADCO 120gsm Release Liner is a bleached kraft paper coated on both sides with polyethylene and on one side with easy release solventless silicone on the gloss side. This allows the liner to be easily removed from any type of sticky material, exposing the adhesive before the part is applied.

The rear of the Cadco liner is a plain, white printable surface which allows you to add part references and branding. This may include information on the part itself or its date of manufacture. This can in turn help with stock control and part identification.

Features

Easy to die cut, release liners allow for complex shapes to be created. A touch panel fascia requiring complex cut outs and push button apertures may only have adhesive printed to certain areas. Die-cut liners are used to protect the adhesive until the panel is ready to be assembled.

Full sheets can also be used to cover the entire panel providing additional protection for electrical connections, before assembly.

Cadco White Release Liner is a protective sheet that can be applied to adhesives, or adhesive coated films. It protects the adhesive, keeping it clean and preventing it from adhering to anything, until the user is ready to apply it.

Congratulations to our Production team member Juano, who has been honoured with a ‘Pride Person of 2024’ award at the Peugeot Attitude Pride Awards 2024 held at Raffles in London. Juano released his critically acclaimed memoir ‘Slum Boy’ earlier this year, and he has been honoured for telling his inspiring story.

Liz has completed 100 marathons!

We have been proudly supporting Liz over the years as she has completed marathon after marathon. This weekend (15/06/2024), she reached a huge milestone - her 100th marathon. Everyone at Cadillac Plastic celebrates with Liz and we offer our congratulations for this great achievement. Many of our customers who speak to Liz follow her progress in the running world with interest.

Here is a quote from Liz about her running journey and her accomplishment:

"Running 100 marathons was never my life goal, it just kind of evolved! My first marathon was in 2005, after which I vowed never again. In 2008 I was persuaded by a colleague at Cadillac Plastic that Rome Marathon might be ‘fun’, however afterwards I was still less than impressed with marathon running! In 2010 I joined a local running club and ended up running 2 marathons that year, it then just escalated!

Giants Head Marathon has always been my favourite off-road race, as it’s not just about the run it’s about the weekend as there’s camping, food provided by the WI and barn dancing, so when 100 became a reality this became my target for my 100th. Giants Head Marathon did not disappoint; it was an epic weekend with so many emotions with the best of friends; I loved every minute!

My 100 marathons were made up of 42 road marathons, 42 trail marathons and 16 ultra races (anything longer than 26.2 miles!). For those of you wondering I’m not targeting 200 marathons!"

D9605 is one of the most popular double sided tapes in this Nitto range. It is a high-tack, clear double sided tape with a polyester carrier. Its modified acrylic adhesive ensures suitability for a host of bonding applications.

It is a double-coated tape with a high modified acrylic adhesive ensuring a good adhesion on different substrates such as plastics, even those with low surface energy. D9605 is well suited for bonding to rough surfaces.

Typical applications for this double sided tape are mounting signs and nameplates, point of sale applications and mounting furniture trims. This tape can also be used in the banner manufacturing trade for banner hemming applications. D9605 is one of the thickest polyester tapes available. The polyester carrier provides a more stable and rigid tape, resulting in a reduced elongation and shrinkage.

After careful planning and preparation, at the beginning of February, we finally moved over to our new Business System.  The new system runs all aspects of orders, manufacturing, and finance and we are confident that it will allow us to provide even better customer support moving forward.   We have gone fully digital, with paperless invoicing and statements and improved labelling and documentation.

The whole Cadillac Plastic team have worked hard to learn the new system alongside offering the usual high standard of customer support each day.
